Building A Brighter Future
Education:The central concept within the educational programme is to meet the requirements of each child’s individual needs, assist him/her to achieve their own potential and overcome barriers to learning. At The Education Centre, we are committed to providing all pupils with access to the National Curriculum. It is recognised that most pupils admitted will be functioning below age appropriate levels. The aim will be to ensure that all children are fully assessed and working on the National Curriculum, whilst accepting that the individual’s emotional difficulties may, at times, affect the rate of progress. Additional support is provided for individual pupils with specific learning needs in literacy and numeracy. The school class size is a maximum of nine. The staffing ratio is high enough to also provide a Teaching Assistant to support each class group. This provides all students with a supportive, educational environment, which enables intensive remedial work to be carried out both in small sub-groups and individually. The curriculum of the school is designed to take into account the wide range of educational needs of pupils placed with us, whilst attempting to offer the range of educational experiences available within mainstream schools. The school is organized to provide a rich experience with an emphasis on individual programmes in a warm, caring environment. Through this, we can lead the pupils to gain educational self – esteem and a good work ethic, which will enable them to make optimum use of the educational opportunities available to them. We believe strongly in a “Works Related Curriculum “, and provide a wide range of vocational opportunities at both Key Stage 3 & 4. Whilst studying at The Education Centre, all pupils will have the opportunity to take Vocational Courses that will enable them to:
