Child Protection The management and staff at The Education Centre are committed to the principle that issues related to the care and protection of the children here are central to our work. the principle that their welfare is the paramount consideration is fundamental and underlies all our policies... Exclusions Exclusion is an extreme sanction and is only administered by the Head teacher (or, in the absence of the head the Deputy Head who is acting in that role). Exclusion, whether fixed term or permanent may be used for any of the following, all of which constitute example of unacceptable conduct and are infringements of the school's Behaviour Policy... Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural We recognise the importance of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in the learning process experienced by all during their rime here... Admissions On admittance we would expect to set in place an educational framework that allowed National Curriculum access, with emphasis on core subjects. As pupils move forward into Key stage 4 we seek to offer a comprehensive vocational training, work experience and college placement framework. Working towards re-integration at FE level and the work place... Attendence This policy describes the importance TEC attaches to ensuring a high level of attendance. The practices incorporated in this document have evolved as a result of constant review and consultation with staff, parents/carers, EWS, and the children... Complaints If it is clear that the matter cannot be resolved informally the 'complaint' becomes formal and the pupil and his/ her parent/carers must receive a definitive response within a further 28 days. The child, or someone on the child's behalf, should if possible put the complaint in writing. One copy of the complaint should be sent to the member/ s of staff involved and a copy should be kept in the pupil's file... School/Parent Contracts The Education Centre will uphold our mission statement. We work very closely with the parents and carers of our students, and as part of this commitment to the carers and our students we will make certain pledges, and we ask parents and carers to give their support and commitment by making certain pledges as well... Bullying t is our intention to create and sustain an environment in which everyone feels safe and secure. We will endeavour to that all of our pupils are aware of what behaviour is deemed acceptable and proper. We will be vigilant and will always listen to our pupils and explain our actions in response to their concerns.
