All pupils are assessed in their work throughout their school career and have opportunities to discuss and contribute to this on – going assessment.
Pupils at Key Stage 3 sit Assessments Tests at an appropriate level.
At Key Stage 4 all pupils have the opportunity to sit external examinations. These are usually a combination of GCSEs, Certificate of Education and various Vocational Qualifications. The exact combination of examinations will depend upon the pupil’s abilities and interests.
We have been pleased with our examination results over the past two years, and feel particularly proud of success rate at GCSE. Last year three of our students were entered for Art, two obtained a grade C, with one getting an A* award.
It was also pleasing to see a student getting a grade B in Maths as a result of progressing from the Foundation to the Higher Tier Level.
Last year we had a 100% success rate at GCSE
From September 2009 the range of qualifications achieved by our pupils will be greater than ever, with new subjects being available. In addition to gaining GCSEs and a Certificate of Education, pupils will also be able to achieve BTEC, CCPR and ASDAN awards.
All students who go out on a work placement will be entered for a BSC (British Safety Council) Award, and Certificate in Health and Safety at work. |
